Save Our Schools in 2024!
Robert Beadles is once again attempting to influence the Washoe County School Board, this time aiming to overthrow it. Utilizing his PAC and with the support of Gram Reed and several other individuals he has encouraged to run, Mr. Beadles is pushing for privatized education, seeking to dismantle the current public school system.
To protect the integrity of our public schools, it is crucial to vote in the primary election for the following candidates:
District A: Christine Hull
District D: Beth Smith, Board Chair
District E: Alex Woodley
District G: Diane Nicolet or Perry Rosenstein
District A
Christine Hull faces Jeff Church, who is listed on the ballot as JC Church, presumably to avoid recognition. Mr. Church has initiated or supported 33 legal actions against the school district, costing it at least $400,000 in legal fees. His history should technically disqualify him from running due to conflicts of interest.
District D
Beth Smith has four opponents, all recruited by Mr. Beadles and/or Gram Reed:
Candidate Cole: Upset over unresolved issues involving his child, now enrolled in private school, he wants to fire the district’s legal team;
Candidate Chris Tabarez: Aims to defeat Ms. Smith and hopes Mr. Cole will become the chair;
Candidate Victoria Myer: Leading the book banning campaign in public schools and Washoe County Library;
Candidate Candace Ron Dreher: Has a history of labor disputes with the district and claims teachers and administration are liars.
District E
Alex Woodley’s main competitor is Beverly “Bev” Stenehjem, a longtime associate of Mr. Beadles. She was previously involved with Battle Born Moms and SaveWCSD.com, both funded by Mr. Beadles. She attempted to recall Angie Taylor without success. Other candidates, Oscar Williams and Cameron Kramer, are also backed by Mr. Beadles but have not been actively campaigning.
District G
Both Diane Nicolet and Perry Rosenstein are strong candidates, but there are five other contenders:
Candidate Paul White: Associated with Joey Gilbert’s campaign;
Candidate Ed Crusade: Advocates for an armed militia, wants to fire teachers, claims high student drug use and absenteeism, and has a hotline to sue the school district;
Candidate Alicia Woo: Left teaching due to classroom control issues and has not raised any reported funds;
Candidate Jacquelyn Di Carlo: Extremely radical, seeks to take over the district;
Candidates Nathaniel Phillips and Monica Lehmann: Neither has filed with the Secretary of State’s Office or raised any money, indicating a lack of serious commitment.
The Washoe County School Board has made significant progress in recent years:
Increased teacher salaries;
Introduced dual language studies;
Increased bus ridership by 2,000 students;
Eliminated fees for advanced, dual college, and International Baccalaureate courses;
Established dedicated leadership teams for English language learners, gifted and talented students, and special education;
Utilized 2016 funds to upgrade school facilities.
It is evident that Mr. Beadles and his group do not have the best interests of the Washoe County School District in mind. It is essential to vote for the recommended candidates to continue improving our public schools.
